On March 16, 2007, the 128th Meeting of the New York State Board for Historic Preservation, took place. On the agenda was the nomination of the Motherhouse complex for the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

The nomination of the Motherhouse Complex included Rosary Hall, the potato house, Seraphina Cottage, the boiler house, St. Dominic’s Chapel, the grotto area and the cemetery. Not only the past history, but also the multiple uses of Rosary Hall at the present time were included in the nomination material prepared by our historic preservation consultant, Thomas Yots. The nomination is one aspect of our Rosary Hall renovation project.

The Board voted unanimously to place the Motherhouse Complex on the New York State Register of Historic Places. The nomination was forwarded to the National Park Service for consideration on the National Register of Historic Places. It was accepted and is now on the National Register as well.
