Sister Barbara has given numerous days of prayer and workshops as well as Parish retreats. Her extensive experience as an educator and in parish work grounds her work in reality.
Sister has appeared on Telicare, regularly done workshops at the National Dominican High School Preaching Conferences, and College Preaching in Action Conferences.
Not only does she have a masters in Biblical Theology from Providence College, Barbara also has a Certificate from the Institute of Healing Through the Expressive Arts at Salve Regina University and is a facilitator of healing through the expressive arts.
These skills are helpful in her graphics and brochure writing for Dominican congregations and ministries. Her brochures on the Dominican Charism were distributed by 17 women's congregations and one men's Province of the Dominican Order, the Order of Preachers.
At the presentation of the Fra Angelico Award, Mary Fran Gorman said:
"Barbara Schwarz uses the many gifts she has been given. She does this clearly, freely and liberally, sharing vision of art that recognizes the power of art to preach the gospel, comfort those in need and encourage us to be the best we can be. It is a joy for me to present the Fra Angelico award of the Dominican Institute for the Arts to a member whose hear is truly "Art a fire", our Sister Barbara Schwarz OP."
